Volkswagen has been reportedly planning to revive its iconic hippy bus for years, most notably with 2001’s Microbus concept and the sleek Bulli Concept from 2011. There was also a rumor that in September that a new EV concept could bow at CES 2016. And the embattled German automobile company has published a teaser image of the concept ahead of the EV’s unveiling in January. Its boxy shape is going to force the rumors of a new microbus even further which include short overhangs, a wide D-pillar, and boxy overall aesthetic.
“First the wide, solid, D-pillar, second the boxy design of the centre section and, thirdly, the front end must have a very short overhang,” said a spokesperson from Volkswagen. “The distance from the A-pillar to the front end must be very short.”
During CES keynote on January 5, the company’s chairman is going to debut the EV and will focus on “the latest development in electromobility as well as the next generation of connectivity.” VW already announced earlier this week that an internal investigation had been completed. You can hope that the company will be able to get the vehicle into production this time.
