The German city police of Hamburg reported on Sunday night that a group of vandals have disfigured Facebook’s office building in Hamburg, smashing the glass, throwing paint and writing on the wall “Facebook dislike” by spray paint.
Police said in a statement that a group of 15- 20 individuals have carried out this operation and everyone was wearing black clothes along with hoods, but nobody was harmed in this incident said a Facebook spokesman even though he couldn’t comment on the possible motive for this decimation.
Furthermore, an investigation has been launched by the German city police regarding this whole matter. On the other hand, the European head of Facebook is under investigation as well in Germany over the social network’s alleged failure to erase racist hate speech.
Last month, a spokeswoman for the prosecution said Martin Ott may be held responsible for the social platform’s failure to erase hate speech, Ott is known as the Facebook managing director for Northern, Central and Eastern Europe. Another matter is, last month a Facebook spokesperson had declined to comment on this investigation, saying “we can say that the allegations lack merit and there has been no violation of German law by Facebook or its employees.”
