Not so long ago, it was Back to The Future day and the props became all the mania amid creators. Just a few months ago, Nike made mind-blowing sneakers with fully-functional power laces. And now a startup called Falyon has created something that will complete your outfit. It’s a jacket that not only looks like the one Marty McFly wears in the movie but also comes with the self-drying functionality.
Named SDJ-01, the jacket isn’t the ideal replica of the jacket that Marty puts on when he first arrives in the year 2015. You can’t find those self-adjusting sleeves here, but you will find the self-drying mechanism. The jacket can dry itself inside-out by circulating high-pressure air. There are built in air amplifiers powered by rechargeable batteries which redirect the air inside.
In addition to the amplifiers, it also has a pair of blowers hidden on the sides of the jacket that pump up the air through the exhaust vents near the collar. The company claims that it will take only a minute or two to dry if someone drops a little water on you, or if you are slightly wet from rainfall. However, if you jump into the pond like Marty did in the movie, it’s definitely going to take longer.
You have to wait a few months to actually get the jacket in real life, though. It’s a mere prototype now. Falyon, the creators of SDJ-01 have launched a Kickstarter campaign with a modest $12,000 goal. You can be one of the proud owners of the first self-drying jacket if you can wait till April of next year for the delivery.
