The drone makers are facing a serious problem now-a-days. A drone is supposedly landing in a place where it is not supposed to and this incident has happened a couple of times. Thus, manufacturers are rushing to find a solution. Otherwise, they might find themselves on the wrong side of some very tough legislation.
Geospatial Environment Online or GEO is the solution found by DJI. It’s a geofencing system that keeps your drone from taking off in restricted areas unless you have a verified DJI account and a credit card on file. So before you think about flying through secured areas like Washington DC, you need to be financially accountable and DJI will turn off the restrictions temporarily.
You’ll have to either request access to the app on iOS by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or you can download the Android APK directly. You’ll also need to update the firmware on your drone. Do not worry if you are not comfortable with the unstable software. The final version will be released soon.
