Uber will initiate its operation in the Sichuan province in China (15 states) before the beginning of the Chinese New Year that takes place early next month. By combining its already expanded segments with its latest/upcoming venture, Uber will be accessible in over 55 different cities in China by February 2016.
Uber’s primary locations of interest are Guangdong, Hunan and Hubei that are all parts of the Southern province. Despite Uber’s presence in all of the aforementioned cities, it will start penetrating into all the corners of the cities that include places like Dongguan, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan, according to Mashable.
Guangdong is the primary location of interest for Uber as the authorities of this company have noticed 3000% growth in its number of passengers that reside in this busiest city of the world.
The biggest competitor of Uber in this market is Didi Kuaidi that has managed to spread its network in over 200 cities offering private taxi rides to its passengers. However, Uber is yet to hit double digits in its number of passengers.
Uber plans to expand in over 100 cities all over China by the end of this year; as a result, its latest business decision might toughen competition for Didi.
According to Luo Gang, Uber’s GM in China announced
“We expect to be able to quickly build scale in these new regions, we will] then use these cities as bases for further growth of our network around the region.”
