From today, Sony has started taking orders for the “HUIS (House) REMOTE CONTROLLER” in Japan. Being the latest product through the company’s First Flight crowdfunding platform, this remote is a universal remote control that comes with an e-paper touchscreen. According to Sony, this remote fits you, allowing you to customize the array of buttons the way you want.
You can use this remote control to operate multiple devices smoothly. Using the display of the electronic paper instead of buttons the operating surface is making it easy for the arrangement and switching of the screens. You can control almost any device in your house, from TVs and Blu-ray players to lights and air-conditioners. Also, you can customize the interface on the remote or by using a PC app if you want greater control. You can also download and share configurations online. For the feel of natural operation the company decided to use e-paper rather than an LCD screen. “And electronic paper that can display all the time button in the power-saving, achieve a natural operation feeling acceleration sensing technology that senses that had,” Sony states on its website.
The Huis Remote Controller is now available from today to order online in Japan for ¥27,950 (roughly $250) and the delivery will start from March. It’s still not sure when this product will leave its homeland like the other First Flight products.
