In Japan, the entire Xperia Z5 lineup will get the Android Marshmallow update from now on. That means Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, and Xperia Z5 Premium, with over 10,000 registered users are trying out Android 6.0 and providing feedback to Sony, as all of the mobile phones will get the latest update.
The update is currently rolling to handsets parried up with the carrier NTT DoCoMo and comes with the 32.1.F.0.43 build number. It is already a known fact that Android 6.0 Marshmallow includes new core features such as Doze mode battery management, configurable app permissions, and Google Now on Tap.
Sony has also made a number of tweaks to the user interface and there is a new Xperia Home launcher too. Icons in the notification area are now configurable and the camera app has also been updated with simple swipe gestures to move between modes.
Sony has also been running a Marshmallow beta program for some of its other Xperia handsets since October. This now involves the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, and Xperia Z3 Compact. In the case of the Sony Xperia Z5, the Marshmallow update has been available in Turkey.
On the other hand, in an announcement in the UK, Sony said that the Marshmallow rollout for the Xperia Z5 series, the Xperia Z4 Tablet, and Xperia Z3+ units will begin on March 7. Thus, we can expect that March 7 would be that date to globally release Marshmallow 6.0.
