If you were unsatisfied with the length of Instagram videos, then you can now give a sigh of relief as the company has decided to extend their video lengths to 60 seconds.
We have come a long way from 2013, when the duration of the videos were only 13 seconds. Though it was only with 13 seconds that wonderful videos which some would consider art were created.
Of course, not everyone will get this update at the same time, and will be rolled out to everyone over time, or in the exact words of Instagram “in the coming months.”
Instagram stated in their blog, “We want to bring you fun, flexible and creative ways to create and watch video on Instagram. As part of our continued commitment, you’ll soon have the flexibility to tell your story in up to 60 seconds of video. This is one step of many you’ll see this year.”
They further went on to say, “In the last six months, the time people spent watching video increased by more than 40 percent. And longer videos mean more diverse stories from the accounts you love, whether it’s Selena Gomez (@selenagomez) hanging out with friends or beauty star Bretman Rock’s (@bretmanrock) latest makeup tutorial.”
And if you happen to have an iPhone, there’s more good news for you, “For iOS, we’re also bringing back the ability to make videos out of multiple clips from your camera roll. To learn more about multi-clip video on iOS, check out the Instagram Help Center.”
We can’t wait to see what people will produce with 60 seconds.
