It seems Teradata is focused in fighting against cloud based analytics as it confirmed that it is going to create a special team soon. This team will develop a tool that will perform cloud-based analytics for the Internet of Things. Therefore, Teradata is bringing on data scientists, software and data engineers on board for this purpose.
Teradata labs will have a functional global IoT Analytics unit which will focus on developing new cloud-based analytic services. These services will automate data movement and database management for IoT-based solutions. Last year, Teradata showed its supreme interest to stay focused on data science-based solutions. They decided to sell all of its marketing applications business and put more emphasis on data science based projects.
“The smartest people at Teradata are laser focused on building the best technologies to power the Analytics of Things,” Oliver Ratzesberger, president of Teradata Labs said these. “With this announcement, we are making it easier for our customers to move sensor data around, optimize data management systems to deal with the massive volumes of data, and run real-time, advanced analytics against streams of IoT data.”
In addition, Teradata updates its Aster Analytics engine with the addition of IoT data preparation and machine learning capabilities. According to Teradata, these new inclusions will ease the detection of patterns in machine behavior and unearth insights.
Teradata is also thinking about working on its ‘Listener’ that is used to capture and share streaming data. The company expects that it will offer new connectors which will ease the streaming of sensor data.
