Facebook has announced a major update to its Messenger app. The update will reportedly bring 1,500 new emoji representing a diversity of platforms.
According to reports, you can now set your preferred emoji skin tone and hair color. If you don’t want to pick every time, then, it will default to yellow. Facebook is bringing 5 different skin colored emoji hands as well, such as yellow, white and black. Previously, the Messenger has only a yellow colored hand.
The social media giant has also introduced five brand new emoji faces – police officer, runner, pedestrian, surfer, and swimmer. Moreover, you will be able to choose between male and female professionals as a reflection of what Google had attempted to better represent working women.
“Emojis have changed the way we talk to each other – whether it’s a smiley face to show you’re happy, a thumbs up, or a pizza when hungry, emojis are a fun, easy way to express yourself when words just aren’t enough — and people love them!”
“Messenger is addressing emoji woes by rolling out a new set of standardized emojis so you can be sure you’re sending the right message. No matter what emoji you pick, it will now look the same for all Messenger users, regardless if the recipient is on Android, iOS or another platform.”
The update is now available worldwide.
