WhatsApp will soon receive a voicemail function. The chat and messaging service is now officially testing a voicemail function in itself. In the latest beta version of WhatsApp, with version number 2.16.189, it is possible to leave a voice message at the time that a person is not available for a phone call via WhatsApp.
Since early last year, it is possible to make phone calls via WhatsApp. This calling feature will soon be extended with a voicemail function. If the contact does not answer his phone when he is called via WhatsApp, the new beta version of the app gives the ability to disconnect over time, or to try to leave a voice message directly.
It was revealed in April this year that WhatsApp has been working on the voice mail function, from code fragments that were found in the source code behind the app. The voicemail function turns out to be active in the latest beta version of WhatsApp. This version is the version 2.16.189.
The beta version of WhatsApp can be downloaded and installed from a special section of the Google Play Store for the testers. WhatsApp users who download and install their app from the regular Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, do not use beta versions and only receive the final version of WhatsApp inside. In this final version of the voicemail feature is not yet available. It is expected that the voicemail feature in WhatsApp will be made available to the public within days to weeks.
