There are millions of apps out there in the Google Play Store and for some, it’s really difficult to find a new app for any specific task. Google knows your concern and to address that, it’s working to bring some new app categories to the Play Store as well as tweaking some of the existing categories.
New Play Store categories include:
- Art & Design
- Auto & Vehicles
- Food & Drink
- House & Home
In addition, two of the existing categories will be renamed, such as “Media & Video” category will be renamed “Video Players & Editors” and “Transportation” will be renamed as “Maps & Navigation.”
These new and tweaked categories should be helpful for you when you will hunt for a new app. Also, it will move some of the apps in the new category. For instance, Tinder is currently listed under Lifestyle category, but when the new categories will be available it could move to the Dating category. This will make the apps more discoverable. These newly added categories will be available on Google Play Store within the next 60 days. However, developers can re-categorize their apps from now.
