That’s right, the designers of WhatsApp have decided to no longer make the app compatible to run for a bunch of old Nokia and Android Smartphones by the end of this year. So if you’re still owning either a Nokia Express Music or an iPhone 3GS, you can say goodbye to WhatsApp’s messaging service.

The company has already started to notify their existing users regarding the decision they will be implementing from 31st December 2016. A message appears on every user of Symbian OS saying,
“Unfortunately, you won’t be able to use WhatsApp after 31/12/2016 because WhatsApp will no longer support your phone”
WhatsApp published a new blog post where the authority has explicitly mentioned that by the end of 2016, a number of smartphones will no longer be able to run WhatsApp.
The underlying reason behind this decision is due to these smartphone’s inability to perfectly support all the upcoming features of WhatsApp that are yet to appear.
Therefore, if you think you can no longer communicate without WhatsApp, then change your smartphone right now if it falls under the aforementioned list. Since, no further updates are going to be available in the future, using an archaic smartphone will pose a severe threat to our privacy.

- BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10
- Nokia S40
- Nokia Symbian S60
- Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
- Windows Phone 7.1
- iPhone 3GS/iOS 6
