After many incidents of Samsung Note 7 setting ablaze, there were rumors and speculations that Samsung will do a worldwide recall of its products and now its official Samsung is recalling the Note 7.
After several Note 7 fire incidents that have been reported since the device went on sale on August 19 Samsung conducted an investigation and revealed the results.
It will be a worldwide recall. Sales of Note 7 are suspended and replacement devices will be ready within 2 weeks according to Samsung. The company has collected reports about 35 incidents of the Note 7 malfunctioning while charging. The problem is related to the battery. Samsung revealed that just one in 42,000 units is at risk of fire, but the recall is for caution and well-being of the customers. The company official who remains unnamed told Korean media that the issue is related to the battery pack and that the problem is estimated to affect around 0.1% of all the Note 7 that were shipped so far.
The timing of this problem is a huge setback for the company because iPhone 7 is due to release after some time and now the safety concerns with Samsung Note 7 might tilt the balance in iPhone’s favor.
