Sri Lanka’s President fell victim to a website hack

Sri Lanka’s President fell victim to a website hack

Letting teenagers practice coding in their tender ages may turn them into ultimate coders; however, let’s not forget the fact that the same young coders often come up with radical ideas and will look for ways of implementing them, just like this teenager living in Sri Lanka.

Find out about Australian kids setting a world record in coding.

The very thought of exams had always cost my sleep when I was a kid, which also led me to come up with outstandingly creative excuses for avoiding them. However, the kids of the latest generation have learned to adopt highly advanced means for avoiding examinations, when a 17-year-old Sri Lankan decided to shut down the President’s website so that the authorities decide to rescind the whole examination process.

Another student hacked into his school’s website for shaming his teachers.

The legislative forces of Sri Lanka have already apprehended this underaged hacker who decided to bring down the President Maithripala Sirisena’s personal website; also ordered to cancel the A-Level examination through a message posted on the website.

The President lost control from his personal website last week when the perpetrator decided to post a message for canceling the international examination. It was only a matter of time before the police were able to successfully locate the hacker who was residing near Columbo during the time of his arrest.

The 17-year-old hacker was taken to jail on Monday and accused under the segment of Computer Crimes Law. He is now obligated to pay $2,000 fine with 3 years of jail, according to Techworm.

The Police forces of Columbo said,

“We traced the hack to his home in Kadugannawa.”

Other IT officials worked tirelessly for restoring the President’s website within 24 hours. The home page was already removed with a posted message demanding for the cancellation of GCE Advanced Level Examination. I think it’s time for the whole world to consider hiring full-time white hat hackers for considering measures against these bunch of underaged hackers.

The name of the attacker has not been revealed as he’s still underage. If you think I have forgotten to add anything vital, feel free to comment as TTN would love to hear from you.
