It looks like Watson has got another skill rather than just understanding your emotions or being a good doctor. 20th Century Fox, the famous film studio teamed up with IBM to let Watson create a trailer for the sci-fi thriller Morgan, and it’s a bit haunting.
Making a good trailer isn’t as easy as you think. Putting a loud collection of footage can entirely ruin the movie, without telling you what the movie is actually about. However, Watson’s version of Morgan trailer is pretty simple and short.
Watson was fed by more than 100 horror film trailer’s cut into separate scenes and moments to get the idea of how to create the dynamics of a trailer. Then it watched Morgan for changes in setting and emotional tone to find the right moments to include in the trailer. Then it isolated 10 scenes and arranged them in a trailer. Although a human editor was still needed for the finer details. However, the great thing is, it took Watson only 24 hours where man-made trailers typically take 10 to 30 days to complete.
Interestingly, Watson AI’s first created movie trailer is also about a lab-created AI. A humanoid named Morgan turns on doctors, escapes and defies nature with her superhuman abilities. Then a corporate troubleshooter was called to decide whether or not she will be terminated. The film has already been released on September 2nd.
