LG has invested into robotics big time. Most of the time we remember LG as a smartphone manufacturer but we forget that LG is one of the biggest home appliance companies in the world, and with the new times are coming to these home appliance and robotics mixed together. Some amazing things can happen here.
LG is now ready to commit to autonomy for the foreseeable future. The Korean tech giant said that they are aggressively investing in robots with its appliances group in mind. LG didn’t send set any timetable for this robotics. But the company made clear that it plans to make devices that work in unison with home appliances like fridge and smart TVs. It’s also considering mixing technology, such as Artificial Intelligence and self-driving cars like Tesla or Google.
A bright but unclear road ahead
The plans are still very unclear & vague. But this situation is hinting that a big shift in appliance companies mindset about robotics . It was mostly viewed as experimental and in limited-use products like vacuums called rumba’s. LG shifting up the gear of this technology is a sign that things are close to hitting the mainstream. It will still take years for the transition but robotics in our home maybe not that far away.
