According to reports, Google will announce its own smart Wi-Fi router at a private event on October 4th. The device should be named “Google Wi-Fi” and will cost $129.
The router must be announced together with the Pixel-phones, Google Home, and a 4k Chromecast. The router must be fitted with smart features, but it is unclear where these exist. One of the sources claims in addition that different access points can be connected to form one large network. Also, it must surpass the range of the device of similar routers.
The appearance of the unit must also correspond approximately to that of a white Echo Dot Amazon, which has a discreet look. It’s possible that the router has features that work with Google Home. However, Google already released a router OnHub in cooperation with TP-Link in August 2015. Then the company came with a second version, this time in collaboration with Asus.
Google announced this week the ‘ Made by Google “-event for 4 October. It is expected that the Pixel-phones will be introduced at the event.
