It’s pretty challenging to learn new subjects, and for most of the students, the subject is math. Luckily, there’s a Croatian company named Photomath, who think they can help us learn math with an app. yes, you read it right. They developed an app named Photomath that can solve any mathematical problems using your smartphone camera. The company was a finalist at the Startup Battlefield at Disrupt Europe 2014.
Point, shoot and go
To see the magic this app does, you simply have to point your phone’s camera at the mathematical formula, take a photo of it and the answer will be almost immediately on the screen.
Well, the app didn’t go to the final only to shoot a photo and show you the answer. It’s also an educational tool that shows step by step solutions. Just tap on the result and you will see the steps to solve the math, such a great tool to learn complex math.
The kid just got smarter
Last week, Photomath released the version 3.0 of this genius app in Apple App Store. Previously, the app could only read printed text using MicroBlink mobile text recognition technology. Using the same technology, the updated app is now more enhanced to instantly recognize handwriting, allowing the users to learn math more easily.
Wait! There’s more
Photomath+, a new expert system is also coming with this new update, which solves math in rather a similar way a human would. With a vibrant and useful step-by-step guide, it also walks users through how to solve the problem.
You can’t just expect everything to be free, so this Photmath+ service is only free until November 30, after that, it will charge you a premium. However, the core service of this app, which is taking a photo and solving math, will remain free forever.
Since Disrupt, the app has been downloaded over 36 million times on iOS and Android, according to Photomath founder and CEO Damir Sabol. Photomath is consistently one of the top 5 educational apps in the U.S. the update is currently available only on iOS but it will be available on Android by the end of the month.
