Google has partially merged the Google Calendar and Google Maps. Android users can now set up their appointments where a location is added to the map making it quicker and easier to access your events and immediately plan a route directly from the map.
This new feature automatically shows events on the map. The calendar items should be of course provided with an address. You can easily save frequently used locations such as home to work and work to home. You can also shorten addresses by adding labels to addresses.
Add a label to frequently to places you frequently visit
When you open Google Maps, search for the address you want to label. Then select “Add Label” in the Menu and fill in the data. In the future, you can then easily search by name, Google wrote in a blog post.
See contacts on the map
Seeking names also works if you already have added an address to a contact to Google Contacts. A label not only makes it easy to find a location in Maps, you can use the tag to search for locations using Google’s voice assistant.
Make bookings and reservations from Gmail
Not only Google Calendar items, including appointments from your Gmail inbox, such as flights, are put in the new Maps appointments section as well.
Save your home and work addresses
You can also customize Google Maps by adding stickers to your locations. This can help you easily to go to “Home” or “Your locations” on Maps. For example, choose an igloo, cabin or castle to mark your house.
Users who would rather not see their appointments in Google Maps can simply disable it.
