It seems like the passwords are turning into a thing of the past. Passwords are getting replaced by fingerprints, retina scans, and other biometric methods. Now another method is surely going to catch everybody’s attention. The new method is a selfie and MasterCard is introducing it calling it “selfie pay”. Now you can verify online pay through a selfie. Dreams do come true. This is the future MasterCard believes in.
“Selfie Pay” is also known as “Identity Check Mobile” is available now in the European market. It available in countries: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the UK. It follows the market after the USA, Canada, and Netherlands. Mastercard stated that it will be available “across the globe” from the beginning of next year.
How it works
It replaces the password. Now you don’t have to write long-winded password anymore. This new technology allows you to use a selfie or a fingerprint to verify a transaction. It’s very simple as well, download the app then take a reference selfie so that the service can make a digital map of your face so that it can compare it in the future then stores it in the MasterCard server. This picture will be used as a reference point for your transaction verifications. It’s possible that some can use a picture of yours to verify the scan so the app will ask you to blink several times to verify it really is you.
