Uber has experimented with a number of things in the UK and the latest experiment rewrites how UberPool’s fair will work in London. Before the drivers could have taken a roundabout to reach your on-demand bus stop but now there will be more direct routes to your destination.
Smart pickup point
All rides requested from 6am to 9pm will direct the passengers to a “smart pickup point” where the app will estimate correctly when your driver and you will arrive at the same time. This is to reduce time sitting in the car and avoiding traffic and detours. The only downside of this experiment is you have to hurry a bit to reach the destination in time.
Uber was asked by reporters about what makes it so different than the already pre-existing “smart routes” and Uber’s reply was that the routes were just a test last year, whereas these are explicitly “smart pickup points.”
“By reducing detours and one way streets the new UberPool will save riders time and make life easier for drivers. Londoners have already chosen to share their Uber more than 2 million times, saving driving miles and emissions as well as money,” said Tom Elvidge, the general manager of Uber in London.
So are you excited to give this new service a try?
