If you’re a regular Snapchat user, you may already know that viewing a new story from your friends with Auto Advance feature could be a nightmare. As you start watching your friends’ story, your viewing session could jump between a concert video, some celebrity selfie, as well as x-rated videos. It’s because the feature wouldn’t only view the story you want to see, but also any new post in the queue. However, Snap.Inc, the recently rebranded company behind this app, is bringing some changes to reduce the clutter.
The nightmare is finally gone
Started yesterday for some selected Snapchat users, the app has finally pulled off its Auto Advance feature. Instead, it has launched Story Playlist feature to put you in charge of this viewing experience. With this new update, you’ll be able to choose which videos to watch together. If you want to add any of your friends in that list, just tap on the thumbnail to the left of their names, and then tap play. However, it won’t allow you to create any persistent playlist. So, you can’t see videos from the same person every day.
Ads between videos
Well, as the Auto Advance feature is gone, there will be ads in between some of the videos. Also, you’ll find ads each time an individual story video ends. Presumably, the company is doing so to recoup for the withdrawal of Auto Advance. After all, they need to make money out of something in addition to sunglasses.
