Google Maps has long since replaced handmade maps and radio shows for traffic for many of us. Exploring a new place has become easier than we can even imagine. And now, Google has updated Maps for Android, making it easier with a handy new home screen shortcut to spot the state of traffic near you in real time.
Small change, big difference
The new feature called “Traffic nearby,” a feature built on company’s previous attempt to make Google Maps more efficient to drivers. It shows crowded roads around your current location. It helps you decide which road to take if you’re planning to go somewhere. You don’t even need to enter a destination or engage “Driving mode” first, which helps you to know the road condition before you get stuck somewhere.
Accessing the “Traffic nearby” is the easiest task ever. Just add the shortcut icon to your home screen and with just one tap you’ll screen like above that displays traffic conditions in your surrounding area. Go to your launcher’s widget library and find Maps, then place the 1X1 shortcut wherever you want.
“Traffic nearby” feature is currently available only on the Android version of Google Maps. It’s still not sure when the iOS users will get the feature.
