With the very recent update of iOS 10.1, Apple has finally launched its NFC Apple Pay service in Japan which will work with Apple’s new series smartphones like iPhone 7, 7 Plus, and Apple Watch series 2 but not the previous versions of Apple devices like iPhone 6 or 6S and others. However, the service will also work with the FeliCa payment standard and the Suica commuter card.

Well, for the time being, in Japan Apple Pay will support with some selected cards like Aeon Financial, Orico, Credit Saison, SoftBank, d Card, View Card, credit and debit cards from American Express, JCB and Mastercard but in the short future, more bank cards will be included in the country.
More importantly, one thing needs to be mentioned to you that please, do not be misguided hearing that as you haven’t got an iPhone 7 series smartphone or Apple Watch series 2 that you can’t make Apple payments in Japan. Yes, you can make payments in the country with your old Apple devices like iPhone 6, 6s, 6 Plus, 6s Plus, and SE, along with iPad Pro models, the iPad Air 2, and the iPad mini 3, but in an another way like you can just utilize Apple Pay to make payment within applications or on the web.
However, in the future, Apple may step up its Apple Pay service in another country but till now, the service is live altogether in twelve countries including Japan and in the U.S., UK, China, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, France, Hong Kong, Russia, Singapore, and New Zealand.
