Apple would want to introduce three new iPhones next year instead of two, and all three models of iPhone 8 will get glass backs.
The smartphone maker would launch the next iPhones in the current sizes of 4.7 and 5.5 inches, plus a third model of 5 inches. It would switch to a glass back for the devices this time. The iPhone 4 and 4S already had a rear glass, and Apple for the iPhone 5 to 7 switched to all-aluminum backs.
It is not the first time that rumors about an iPhone with full glass back have arisen. The usually well-informed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported in April that Apple was considering glass backs and other reports in September put further fuel to it.
It is expected that these Phones will have a similar design as the iPhone 4 and 4S, with a metal edge to the side and front and rear glass. Apple would also consider the popularity of the new shiny black iPhone 7. That model gets easily scratched, which would have fewer problems with glasses.
The new iPhones would first receive an OLED display, which is both energy efficient and perform better in bright ambient light.
However, on Tuesday, it was revealed that Apple has sold fewer iPhones in three consecutive quarters than last year.
