Car sharing services are getting ever more popular and there are service pioneers like Uber and Lyft. GM has a car sharing service too and it’s called Maven and it has become quite popular. Maven is available in cities like Ann, Arbor, Mich., Boston, New York City, and San Francisco to name a few. Now it has reached the city of Angles, LA. This move in Los Angeles is interesting because of the city’s car-centric culture. Its is GM’s answer to CityCarShare and ZipCar. Maven is giving a chance to the people of LA to live car-free but with the convenience of a car when they want it.
First, you will need to register then use the app to reserve a vehicle of your choice. Maven is starting small in LA. They only have 60 vehicles available now in more than 24 locations. If the service gets popular then there is a chance that more places and service numbers will increase. The locations include downtown Los Angeles, Little Tokyo, South Park, and areas near the University of Southern California.
“You can rent cars for $8 an hour — that cost includes both fuel and insurance. As you might expect from a GM service, all of the available cars are part of the GM family. They include the Chevrolet Cruze, Malibu, Tahoe and Volt, the GMC Acadia and Yukon, plus Cadillacs like the ATS, CTS, CT6, XT5 and Escalade. They’ll all come with the OnStar service built right in.” – Maven
