As the big day for the people of the U.S. is on its way, Facebook wants you to be prepared for it. Yes, I am talking about the upcoming presidential election, scheduled on November 8, 2016. And this time, exercising your civic duty will be easier as Facebook has launched a voting guide, which will direct you to information about candidates such as endorsements, stances on issues, recent Facebook posts and campaign websites.
With this guide, you will essentially get a preview of your voting choices, with a prediction for states with no early sample ballots. Also, the voting guide lets you email yourself your choices for later reference.
When you open the tool, you will see candidates are presented randomly. You can see their positions on specific issues, recent posts, endorsements, and their website by tapping on them. You have to provide your home address if you need information about local elections.
Keep it private
And if you’ve already made some enemies by endorsing your favorite candidate, and don’t want to repeat the same mistake this time, you can keep your opinions on specific candidate private.
Besides voting guide, Facebook also added a new tool that helps you find local polling places. Tapping on that link will send you to a site called Get to the Polls where you have to put the registered voting address to get the accurate polling location. From that site, you will also know how many hours a polling site is open for early voting and Election Day voting. As the Election Day is around the corner and most of the people still don’t know aside from the big two candidates who else is on their ballot, this initiative that Facebook took is highly appreciated.
