Copying SnapChat seems to be the most popular task for other social platforms. WhatsApp and its parent company Facebook have already copied some features of SnapChat. And the latest edition in this copycat list is Periscope. The live streaming app brings a feature called selfie masks that lets you don Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump masks when you broadcast in selfie mode.
“Live video continues to be an important way for anyone, including our elected representatives, to share their point of view on important issues and invite everyone to be a part of the conversation,” the team wrote in a Medium post. “These Election Day masks are a lighthearted example of the types of tools our team is working on to help you create compelling live video. We’re excited to bring you more advanced tools soon.”
Unlike SnapChat, the pioneer of selfie filter format, Periscope created their selfie masks using Trump and Clinton’s real picture. You’ll find them docked in the bottom of the screen when you broadcast in selfie mode. Tap on them and they will be automatically added to your face, with a puppet-like a mouth movement. You can also get one of your friends in the frame and use both the masks at the same time.
Sadly, the limited edition graphics will be available only for the next weeks, means you won’t be able to embody Clinton or Trump during your live-streams forever. Only the iOS users will be able to use the selfie masks this time, Android users may have to wait till 2020.
