Huawei has announced that it is has sold the Huawei P9 nine million times worldwide till now. Thus, the flagship handset has been one of the best selling smartphones of the company ever.
This Huawei P9 was launched in early April in London and has been available since the second half of the month. It has contributed fair enough to the goal of Huawei to sell 140 million smartphones worldwide this year.
The P9 is a premium smartphone designed with a large 5.2 inch full HD display. The handset is a similar size to the iPhone 6S but Huawei makes better use of the area by packing in a larger screen. As the display glass is curved at the edges, the screen is substantially fitted into the housing seamlessly. The P9, like its predecessors, has a full metal casing. Huawei has been able to raise designs this year to an even higher level. The edges of the Huawei P9 are diamond cut and its feels comfortable to hold.
Processor & Storage
Under the hood of Huawei P9, there is the brand new and ultrafast Kirin 955 processor. This processor is developed by Huawei itself. It is a 64-bit octa-core processor with a processing power of 2.5 GHz. The device has 3 gigabytes of RAM and 32 gigabytes of internal storage.
Dual camera with Leica lenses
The most remarkable feature of the Huawei P9 can be found at the rear of the unit. There are in fact two camera lenses. The lenses for these cameras have been developed by the German lens manufacturer Leica Camera AG. The special part is that the two cameras are also different. One camera is an RGB color camera, the other is a black and white camera. This P9 can shoot photos that show the distinctive color and timelessness, exactly what Leica cameras are known for.
Haveing dual camera lenses and using both color and black and white, Huawei P9 hits the brightest color photos and the most intense monochrome pictures. The camera is able to variably focus on subjects. The device can use this laser, calculation depth and contrast to focus on a subject. The device automatically selects the mode that provides the best results in any environment.
The Huawei P9 is equipped with a 3000 mAh battery. As it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, the smartphone benefits both from a high battery capacity and low power consumption thanks to the “Doze” feature in Android. However, it doesn’t feature the latest fast charging technology which other flagship smartphones of recent times do.
Last but not least, Huawei P9 also offers renowned fingerprint sensor. This is placed at the rear of the device, on the very spot where many people put their finger in regular use. Unlocking the device is thus done in a fraction of a second.
The device is cheaper than most other flagship alternatives from Apple, Samsung, and HTC but not as cheap as the ones from OnePlus or Oppo. The price is $530, £449, AU$799.
