Oppo and Vivo got a landslide victory against Apple’s iPhone. Though, people never thought these two brands can outperform Apple’s iPhone in such a great deal. Eventually, the two local brands were not even in the rank of top 5 Smartphone brand in the country. Why did apple lose its market share in China? For Apple losing in China is quite a big deal.
Strong distribution strategy
So, how all these happened? It happened as Chinese brand emphasized immensely in marketing. They started giving commission to the store owners for promoting the local brands.
In China local stores dominate sales. Since Vivo and Oppo wanted to experience a boom in their revenue they focused on building a good relationship with the local stores. And it worked. The two brands increased their sales substantially. Thusly, they defeated China’s iPhone Xiaomi. More their aggressive marketing strategy puts Apple’s iPhone market share record low in three years, which is 7 percent only.
One of the most talked weakness iPhone has is it is irrationally pricy. Both of the local brands Vivo and Oppo hit the Achilles heel of iPhone. Consequently, set lower prices for their phones when the phone pretty cool in terms of performance and design. In fact, Vivo targets mostly the youths of China. Hence, it focuses on camera and music tremendously. On the other hand, Oppo is gaining popularity for rapid charging and long time battery life.
Mass Chinese people are holding a mindset that why they will spend more bucks when they are getting what they need within lesser amount.
