Marvel just announced that Netflix is renewing Luke Cage for a second season, following the extremely positive reviews about the first season that premiered earlier this fall. The announcement comes as a sweet and subtle tweeted video, focusing on a neon sign hanging in the window of Pop’s Barber Shop, which read “Season 2 Coming Soon.”

This is one of the most popular shows on Netflix; here Luke Cage is a fugitive, trying to revamp his life in Harlem, New York after a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and bulletproof skin. Soon, he faces down Harlem’s gangster, Cottonmouth.
The show stars Mike Colter as Luke Cage, joined by Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Mahershala Ali as Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi as Shades, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe and Rosario Dawson as none other than Claire Temple whom you’ve already met in Marvel’s Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
There’s no mentioning about when the second season of Luke Cage would start streaming. Colter and Missick are already working on Marvel’s The Defenders that brings back all the four superheroes together. The Defenders, along with Iron Fist are expected to air in 2017, while a brand new first season of The Punisher, the second season of Jessica Jones, and a third season of my all time favorite Daredevil are already in the pipeline.
