Samsung has sent an invitation to the Asian press for an event on January 5th, 2017. The company will reveal its new Galaxy A (2017) series of smartphones during the event.
Samsung Galaxy A is the mid-range premium smartphone series from the company and has been on the market since around 2015. Devices in this series range in the introductory price between 200 and 450-euro.
This year, Samsung has released five smartphones in the A series. As it was the second generation, these devices were identified by the addition of ‘2016’ in the name.
On January 5, Samsung will introduce the first handsets from the A (2017) series. The invite for the upcoming event hints the new series is going to be water-resistant.
Based on the previously leaked information, it is expected that the company will come with the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017), Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), and the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017).
The A3 will receive the Exynos 7870 octa-core processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage accompanied by a 13MP rear camera and an HD resolution Super AMOLED display. The A5 will sport a Super AMOLED 5.2-inch display with 1080×1920 resolution. There will be an octa-core Exynos 7880 processor along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB expandable storage and a 16-megaipixel camera on the front and back.
Samsung has already invited the Asian press for the launch of these devices in the Malaysian city of Kuala Lumpur. Possibly the introduction will also take place at the same time in the United States at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
