And thusly, you become depressed. A recent research shows that routinely use of multiple social media accounts makes you more depressed.
SM is one of the integral parts in our daily life. To remain close with friends and relations or to know the trends and current happenings we consciously or subconsciously rely on social media. Yet, excessive or disproportionate use of social media can leverage mental illness.
According to University of Pittsburgh’s Research on Media, Technology, and Health (CRMTH), exchange of view, information, and conversations is popularly fattening. For long duration people in these days commonly use Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, SnapChat, and alike. These fancy sites or apps are cajoling people, especially youths, from various perspectives.
In which fashion social media is influencing minds is a luring topic for researchers. Consequently, they are observing this matter for quite a long time. However, the research found that people use more than one social media accounts are in a more unpleasant situation. Those multi-account holders are depressed to a greater extent.
CRMTH surveyed on 1787 adult people ages 19 to 32 on social SM use and depression. The researchers collected information thoroughly to find the relationship between SM use and depression. By the by, to identify the outcome of using excessive SM use the researchers used a method known as PROMIS. During the survey, researchers considered some parameters, such as duration of using the social media, gender, marital status, presence in different SM sites. Lastly, the survey showed that participants regularly used more than one SM accounts prone to be in more depression. To specify, people who visit two or more social media sites happen to be 3.1 times more frustrated than others. Also, they are 3.3 times tensed than others. Moreover, people who use SM more than 7 hours happen to suffer from depression 3 times more than who use 2 hours.
