An avid user of emoji? Then you’re not alone. Globally, the characters are used eagerly and it is quite different in countries which emoji is used the most. Researchers from University of Michigan and Peking University have figured it out.
They analyzed 427 million messages from 4 million phone owners, who were located in 212 different countries and regions. Thus, the researchers wanted to find out whether the emoji used is something universal or just varies from country to country. However, it reportedly is the first comprehensive survey of emoji.
Tears of laughter
The emoji with tears of laughter is the most popular emoji in the world. The heart is in the second position and emoji in love with hearts in his eyes is at three. But each country proved to be rather different.
Tears of laughter is almost the number one in every country, but other expressions differ. France with the city of love as its capital used the heart eagerly. The French are the fan of emoji: in 20 percent of all posts, there is at least an emoji.
In Australia, France, and the Czech Republic, people mostly use happy emoji. These are the countries where people are more individualistic. In countries like Mexico, Chile, and Peru people use more sad and angry emoji. There are bad relationships just often as good ones, it appears.
