Lyft, another cab-hailing company and the only worthy competitor of Uber in the USA, gained a significant growth in its app downloads more than Uber on iOS recently. The report revealed by App Annie concluded it could be due to the #DeleteUber campaign. A protest led by users after Uber’s response to Donald Trump’s recent changes in the USA immigration policy.
Main cause behind the spike
The number of Lyft app downloads spiked more than double on Sunday especially on iOS, according to The Verge. Social media campaigns by Lyft that also went viral are primarily responsible for its continuous growth in the App Store.
TechCrunch’s reports found out that Lyft was listed 39th on the free apps chart of iOS, and soon rose to 7th at the end of the week. Currently, the app is listed as number one, surpassed not only Uber but also Instagram, Snapchat, Youtube and much more!
Market research results
It has been a really long time for users to finally consider Lyft over Uber; furthermore, market research proves that users prefer Lyft more than Uber.
Despite the sudden shift in taste, Lyft still owns only twenty percent of the entire market, compared to Uber that still owns the rest; furthermore, the effect of this abrupt political clash is going to disappear in a week and Uber may rise again from ashes.
