You have been using Google Maps to find your way around, but a new update will allow you to create your own itineraries or bucket lists and bookmark your favorite places. From now on, you can create lists of places you want to visit and share them with your friends.
“Is your bucket list etched in your memory, or scribbled on a dozen post-it notes scattered around your home? Have you ever promised out-of-town guests an email full of your favorite spots, only to never get around to clicking send? Starting today, you can create lists of places, share your lists with others, and follow the lists your friends and family share with you—without ever leaving the Google Maps app (Android, iOS),” the company says in a blog post.
Getting started with the bucket lists is quite simple. Just open the Google Maps app and then tap on the place name and then tap on the Save icon. You can save it using the present list such ‘Favorites’ or ‘Want to go,’ or you can create your own list.
Once done, you can access your lists by selecting ‘Your Places’ on the side menu, and then tapping the ‘Saved’ tab. You’ll find the icons of your saved places for easy access once you’re in that area. You can also share your bucket lists with your friends by tapping the share button. You’ll then get a link that you can email to people you want. Once they tap the ‘Follow’ button, the list then appears on their own maps, updated as you make any changes.
The feature has rolled out yesterday on iOS and Android, also you can view the lists on the web through shared links. Other platform users will get the full list-making experience later.
