Daimler AG German automaker and the owner of the Mercedes brand just issued a worldwide recall today. This includes almost 1 million vehicles of recent models of Mercedes-Benz. They are at risk of spontaneously catching fire due to a fault in the fuse. A total of 51 Mercedes-Benz has reportedly caught fire so far but fortunately, there has been no injuries or death.
No information on which models are affected
This recall will affect 300,000 newer model year vehicles in the US alone and it also includes the new 2017 models According to Reuters. Most of the fires, 30 fires to be correct are reported in the United States. A spokesman from the Mercedes-Benz explained the situation, “new vehicles rolling off the production line and those already on dealers’ lots will be fixed before they’re sold. Although Daimler and Mercedes-Benz USA didn’t provide any insight as to which models are affected by the fire-prone fuse, the company has updated their recall site where owners can check their vehicle’s VIN number and says it will start notifying drivers in the US later this month. However, the fixes won’t actually begin until the necessary replacement parts arrive in July.”
Mercedes-Benz is always associated with quality so a recall from this company for its 2017 car model is quite surprising.
