This day will be known as a historic day for the space industry. For the first time, SpaceX launched a flight-proven orbital class rocket that has successfully been relaunched and returned to Earth. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said, “We just had an incredible day today, the first stage Falcon 9 rocket made a clean landing “right in the bullseye” on the droneship, Of Course I Still Love You. “This is gonna be ultimately a huge revolution in spaceflight,” Musk said. “It’s been 15 years to get to this point. I’m sort of at a loss for words. It’s been a great day for SpaceX and space exploration as a whole.”
a new era of space exploration
The Falcon 9 rocket that launched today was Stage 1 and it was first used to boost a Dragon vehicle on a supply run to the ISS. This same rocket was first used to successfully land on SpaceX’s drone barge. About 80 percent of the cost of a rocket launch is comprised of the first stage. This will usher in a new era of space exploration, and by a new era, Elon Musk meant the new opportunities that will come with the significant cost savings.
So do you think this achievement will bring significant value to space exploration in the new generation?
