On this Earth Day, show your affection for planet Earth in a very special way- adopt it.
Yes, you’ve read it right. To celebrate the Earth Day, NASA has put the Earth up for adoption. This parental program was kicked up last week, offering 64,000 individual pieces of this special planet to be adopted.
55 miles wide
If you want to adopt a piece just go to NASA’s adopt page and type your name. A little piece of randomly assigned Earth will be virtually yours. Each piece is about 55 miles wide. However, you won’t get any legal or property rights of that adopted section. It means whether you get the section containing The Eiffel Tower or a place somewhere in the middle of Amazon forest, you get the same benefit.
Well, what you can get by adopting is individual scientific data from NASA about the adopted section. You can also research and connect with a world map to print certificates from anywhere in the world. You can also share the certificate on the social media.
This year, Earth Day will be celebrated on April 22. NASA hopes, by April 22, every piece will be adopted. NASA will continue the program until all the pieces are adopted, and then it will start over.
