Hyperloop had a competition to design pods for its hyperloop lines. It has been less than 3 months since they held the first competition that blasted test pods down a 1.25-kilometer test track in Southern California. Now SpaceX is already setting up for this second edition of this competition. The competition will be placed At SpaceX’s Hawthorne, California facility. Hyperloop Pod Competition II will take place there over the weekend of August 25-27th, 2017.
The main focus of this competition will be the performance of the Hyperloop pods themselves like the previous event. It addition to those things this year’s teams will be competing for breakneck speed. SpaceX wrote in its announcement that this year’s main criterion driving Competition II is to hit the fastest speed possible. This year’s competition is also open for new student teams that want to get some time on the test track. The roster of teams is slightly smaller than last year with 22 teams competing this time around.
So are you excited to see what speed barriers will be broken in this year’s competition? Also, let us know how you feel about the Hyperloop system. Do you think it will achieve its goals?
