Love it or hate it, the popularity of Facebook Messenger seems to be growing stronger than ever before, reaching successfully to 1.2 billion users that are active, stated on Tuesday. It was one billion last July.
The likely reason for this growth
The likely reason for this explosive growth rate is due to its decision to create Messenger Lite, as mentioned by the company. The version was released last year solely dedicated for older and sluggish phones as well as for the newer ones.
The messenger app of Facebook has already adopted a number of quite extraordinary features, starting from Messenger Day to Slack-like reactions and indications. The list also includes vanishing selfies feature taken from Snapchat.
Despite all the confusing bloat Facebook plotted, I think its user growth rate is not ceasing anytime soon. And who’s willing to argue with 1.2 million users?
Incidentally, Facebook’s F8 developer conference is only a few weeks from now where it will announce further upcoming news and updates, the reach will definitely rise after that.
Popularity in southeast Asia
Living in Bangladesh, I have already noticed a significant growth rate in the number of facebook messenger user. It is unlikely that young adults call their friends by spending telephone credit, whereas, it simply minimal data usage now.
