Ever wonder what will actually happen to the world if the ice melts? It’s actually pretty daunting to contemplate, at least from where we sit. However, there is an artist who tried to help us visualize what will happen to our city after the climate change.
Justin Brice Guariglia, a visual artist collaborated with Strange Flavour and second verse, award-winning app development studios to create an app named After Ice. Harnessing the power of augmented reality, geolocation, and NASA data, this app will show you exactly how your city will look like after the climate change.
“We warm the earth, the glaciers melt, and we go under water… Global warming is happening, however it needs to be emotionally felt before people will want to take action. I hope this app will at the very least get a conversation going and get some of the science out of the lab, and into people hands,” says Guariglia.
Once you open the app, it will reveal how many feet of water is anticipated for the location you live, along with an augmented reality stream of sea water that will flow across the top of your smartphone’s screen. To make you realize (or scare you!) how serious this problem is, bubbles and fishes will swim past. And as a test case for this app, Guariglia used New York City.
Besides warning you, this app will also give you tips on what you can do to prevent climate change.
So, are you interested to know what will happen to your city after the ice melts? Just go to the App Store and download After Ice and shoot photos of the area you live.
