16 years ago a man named Jimmy Wales decided to archive information with their respective sources given while naming his website as Wikipedia, which is considered to be one of the largest so far. This generator of the grand idea has recently decided to eliminate the proliferation of fake news from the internet by using his latest platform for journalists called Wikitribune.
A platform for journalists
Wikitribune will mainly function as a global news website on which professional journalists can upload their articles after each of those are carefully checked for facts and sources.
The remuneration awarded for the journalists will be crowdfunded through the resources contributed by supporters. It intends to hire 10 journalists initially, and once the goal for funding is reached, Wikitribune will immediately start off its first publication.
Battle fake news using legit stories
You must know that Wikitribune is far different from Wikinews, another nonprofit foundation led by Wikipedia. Wikinews mainly crowdsources actual events occurring in various parts of the world, thus, allowing everyone the scope of sharing his own view to the world.
The countdown for the launch…
I am eagerly waiting to see exactly how many people actually decide to contribute to taking Wales’s idea forward. With 27 days still remaining before the campaign for collecting contribution finally ends; therefore, the waiting to see the reactions of others will be worthwhile.
