Jolpi is an electronics R&D company based here in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Well, after hearing Bangladesh, you will probably just think of a country of day laborers or garments workers. Time have changed, though it’s true indeed, at the same time Bangladesh has been changing to become a big market to the world in the recent years.
When people talk about the “Asian Tigers,” they’re typically referring to Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan. The four countries experienced rapid growth between the 1960s and 1990s. But now there’s another country that should come to mind: Bangladesh. Jonathan Garber, a financial reporter, has mentioned Bangladesh as a new Asian Tiger Click To Tweet in his recent write ups in Business Insider.
In the past few years, Bangladesh’s economy has been evolving through the IT industry where a lot of freelancers and software making firms have developed keeping up with international standards. Jolpi (an IoT and smart home products making electronic company) is one of them and they have taken an initiative to fulfill a big dream.
Yes, a dream to save people from unexpected fire related issues such as burning houses.
A Man named Reza Ul Kabir, the founder and CEO of Jolpi electronics has been inspired by the incident in Uttara, Dhaka where a woman, her husband, and two sons died from a fire in their own home from overnight gas leakage. Truly, a disturbing and pathetic outcome at one of the finest times of technological advances.
Finally, they have launched a great product named Sniffer, which is basically a GAS leakage detecting alarm to save people from fires which result due to GAS leakages causing severe and deadly burning cases.
As Titas (Gas Transmission & Distribution Company in Bangladesh) confirmed, in the last year the amount of kitchen gas leakage accidents in Bangladesh was 5123 and daily at least 14 accidents are happening on an average.
The country’s leading newspaper Prothom-Alo has reported and Bangladesh Fire Service Department has confirmed 20% of fire burning issues are occurring from Gas leakages!
A gas leak detector is a device or equipment that senses and detects the existence of gases in a particular area. These devices are used as a safety system which can be installed in one’s home, office, factories or any commercial places. A gas leak detector works as a safety machine which sends an alarm to your near one so that anyone can be aware of switching on their kitchen stove and may take precaution to prevent fire-related accidents.
How Does it work?
It contains a powerful sensor which monitors the level of gas exposed ion its surroundings when an excessive level of gas is detected, it uses an alarm signaling the possibility of an accident. It also works as a smoke detector. For example, while drying clothes on top of the kitchen stove, the clothes may catch on fire.
Sniffer has mainly been made for kitchen rooms, so it is highly recommended to be used in your kitchen room for better safety from fire/burning related issues. You are requested to place it 6 to 7 feet high from the floor and keep it within 15 feet from horizontal view. Do not place it exactly on top of your kitchen stove.
It consumes 2.5 watt per hour which redirects 2 units per month. So, the total electricity cost of using sniffer will be 5.94 BDT (Each Unit Cost 3.3 BDT by DESCO) for each month.
