I bet most of us loved watching Hollywood where hackers plug a USB drive into a different PC before getting started. Realistically, hacking into a new server is not just typing few keys and voila, you’re in! It costs patience and spontaneous guesses for breaking down a server completely.
And to save your entire PC, the best method is to compile everything into a tiny USB device so that you’re able to secure your information.
To answer the big question, continue reading to find out how to use a USB flash drive for operating a PC. It’s not complex and I will be guiding you throughout this manual that is free of malware or virus.
It’s not required to have an empty USB flash drive; hence, it is fine if your pen drive contains valuable files inside.
Download and install Predator on your PC:
The purpose of Predator is to restrict access to your PC whenever you are away but has to remain active. It requires an external USB device to turn it into a control device.
Jack in the pen drive after running Predator:
You can instantly turn your PC dysfunctional by unplugging the USB flash drive. As a result, the screen display turns black and the keyboard and mouse stop responding.
For resuming your initial task, simply plug-in the USB for restoring display, mouse, and keyboard back to life!
Remember, after plugging in Predator will ask for a password. Continue by pressing OK.
The Preferences tab allows users to create “New Password” that allows them to access their PC, in case if they lose their USB flash drive.
The combination of password and USB flash drive for locking/unlocking a PC, you have to check the “Always Required” field. As a result, you will be always asked for the password every time after plugging the USB flash drive.
Lastly, the Flash Drive tab makes sure that the right USB is jacked in. Click on “Create Key” before pressing “OK.”
Eventually, Predator will close down and you need to press its icon that will appear on the taskbar. The icon will turn green showing it has started running.
Once operational, Predator will make sure that your pen drive is plugged in. If not, the screen display will shut down, simultaneously locking the keyboard and mouse.
Predator gives you the control over it; hence, you can temporarily stop its monitoring system find out if anyone attempted to switch on your PC during your absence from the activity log.
The Predator software will take over one particular USB port completely for locking/unlocking your PC.
