Recently, there has been a lot of buzz surrounding SpaceX, thanks to Elon Musk for sharing some amazing pictures via Instagram. We were amazed to get the view of SpaceX factory from the space, its Dragon spacecraft docking with the space station, and much more. However, those images are nothing compared to what he shared yesterday. He just shared the first picture of a SpaceX spacesuit.
In the image shared, you can see Musk wearing a crisp white suit with black paneling, head covered by a white helmet with a large, tinted face shield. Praising the look of the suit, he said, “(It) was incredibly hard to balance aesthetics and function. Easy to do either separately.”
Elon Musk also said that the spacesuit isn’t any mockup and actually works. It has been tested to double vacuum pressure and will be worn by astronauts traveling aboard Dragon Capsule, a new spacecraft the private space company is developing to ferry astronauts to the space station under contracts with NASA.
The spacesuit looks quite similar to the photos of a SpaceX suit that surfaced on Reddit years ago. The design looks quite chic and like something straight out of sci-fi, while simultaneously pays homage to that old school spacesuits NASA astronauts wore to the Moon. As Musk wants to send human to Mars by 2025, perfecting the spacesuit technology seems quite vital.
