A couple of weeks ago, Elon Musk revealed the first image of the official SpaceX’s spacesuit, giving the glimpse of what the company’s upcoming spacesuit will look like. From a fashion point of view, the monochromatic look of the suit didn’t fail to amaze the viewers. And this Friday, Musk just went a step further by sharing the first full-body look of his spacesuit.
Shared on his Instagram account, this second image discloses the design of both the boots and the gloves. Also, it shows the padding used for the pants. The image shows a man wearing the suit, standing next to the Crew Dragon capsule, the vehicle that the company is building to carry NASA astronauts for SpaceX’s first crewed launches.
The boots in the picture look quite lightweight, seems to be optimized for mobility. The suits aren’t designed for extra-vehicular activity (EVA); instead, they are pressure suits, meant to protect the astronauts while they are in the capsule. In the last post, Elon Musk already assured that the spacesuit has been tested in double vacuum pressure and it “actually works.”
As promised by Musk, more photos are on its way. As his extraterrestrial ambition isn’t a secret to anyone, you can expect more innovations right on schedule. Until then, you need to be happy with these two photos.
