Did you just google-how to mute tab? If not, you seem to use those chrome extensions, Mute Tabs By Url show off as a bit techy. Else, you might be the one never bothered about those autoplay advertisements or random videos like milking cows in Spain.
Google finally added a solution to shut the sound of annoying websites crying for views with autoplay videos. Google added a sound icon a few years back to track the sites or tabs playing audio or video. This was a revolver to those annoying cry sites.
All you need is to right click on the tab showing volume icon & select “Mute tab”.
The problem with this solution is that it ain’t permanent. As soon as the tab reopens it will start to shout again.
New update of google regarding the mute tab is a bomb. Now Google is working on dedicated sound content setting switch for each domain. Look at the far left corner of the address bar. The site is showing either an info icon or a Secure site enabled HTTPS. Clicking any of the two will lead you to various toggles for the specific domain like Cookies, Location, Flash, and others. The new toggle for sound setting will also be found here.
This will give you more control about which website is allowed to throw sound at you automatically.
You can give it a try now on Canary but beware! When this bomb drops the domain will never sound again unless you want it to. Websites with interesting content and annoying sounds might get benefit from this update.
