For all the Adidas fans out there, the German sportswear giant is finally releasing its own shopping app. Aptly named “Adidas,” this app features a chatbot for customer inquiries, personalized newsfeed, and an online store.
According to Joseph Godsey, Adidas’ global head of digital commerce, they designed the app to act as the new centerpiece of company’s app-based mobile experience.
“[We] tried to create an app experience that was unique to us,” He said.
The app’s newsfeed will showcase new product announcements and events, prioritizing things based on your interest. Adidas personalizes the newsfeed based on the input like your previous purchase, and additional information you’ve given to it, such as your birthday, gender etc.
The app also comes with a chatbot that will instantly help you with any Adidas-related query. Firstly, the chat interaction will be with a human. However, in the next two months, the company will enable an AI to manage simple queries, along with a human to handle complex queries.
Once you settle on a purchase, you can buy it right through the app using Apple Pay and Android Pay. The app is currently available only in the US and the UK on both iOS and Android. It will launch in more countries later in the year.
